Two-Story Addition

This “War Box” home needed to expand. It was not nearly big enough for a family with 4 teenagers, so the solution was a two-story addition that more than doubled the original house's size.

The addition added three bedrooms and a loft, plus a large new kitchen and an adjacent sunken family room. The kitchen features custom cherry cabinets with Richlite counters and an island with a countertop made from a lane from an old bowling alley in the area. The pantry provides great storage, with full-depth pull-outs and cubbies for coats and shoes (and cleats, in this case).

The home is heated and cooled with a mini-split system, and an on-demand hot water heater provides hot water, so everyone gets a hot shower after coming home from a cold game or going skiing.
